Ichinoseki Seimei-shien School Senmaya Branch “Minatomo Gakkyu”

“Seimei-Shien”is Japanese word.lt means a school for physically handicapped or mentally retarded children.

　The name,“Minatomo”means “We are all friends.” “Gakkyu”means“class”lt was named by a Senmaya JHS students.                                                                         

Outline

There were some such kinds of handicapped children around here. But there weren't any special schools. So they had to go to a far big city. That's why this branch school was established at Senmaya Elementary School in April, 2007. Then in 2009“Minatomo Gakkyu”was established at Senmaya JHS. Two students come to this school now.
　Basically“Seimei-Shien School”is managed by lwate Prefecture. JHS is managed by each city or town. So it is difficult to be managed in the same building.　But now we are trying to carry on this educational　program. It is called “lnclusive Education.”
　Two school use the same Building. But curriculums and teachers are different.　Sometimes Minatomo's students can join in the Senmaya JHS program, for example athletic meeting , school festival and so on. It is economical and useful system for both school.

　This system aim to study together in the same community.
